History of Makati
Makati was originally a swampy area during the Spanish colonial period. It was part of the town of Santa Ana in Manila before becoming an independent municipality.
During the 20th century, Makati started developing rapidly as businesses and commercial centers were built. It became part of Metro Manila and later transformed into the financial capital of the Philippines.
Today, Makati is known for its skyscrapers, central business district, and modern lifestyle while still preserving parts of its cultural and historical heritage.
